Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal inspected Monday the ongoing demolition of Batn Al-Baqara slum area in Masr Al-Qadima district following the instructions of political leadership to eliminate informal area in the capital and provide its residents with decent life and appropriate housing units.
Abdel Aal asserted that more than 90% of informal areas in Masr Al-Qadima district were demolished, adding that a total of 1721 families were relocated to the Asmarat housing project.
Moreover, the governor pointed out that the demolition aims to improve the living conditions of 2000 families as well as implementing the state's plan for the comprehensive development and rehabilitation of the Fustat historical area.
The governor also assured that all the new housing units are fully furnished and provided with all necessary services, including health units, youth centers, and schools.
