Minister of Transport Kamel Al-Wazir and Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal inaugurated Sunday Ezbet El-Walda car tunnel in the Helwan area, which was a cooperation between the Cairo Governorate and the Ministry of Transport at a cost of EGP 15 million.
At the beginning of his speech, Abdel Aal said that Egypt is witnessing an unprecedented development during President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's era in line with Egypt's vision 2023, pointing out that citizen services is one of Egypt's political leadership priorities to provide a decent life to all citizens.
Abdel Aal expressed his thanks and appreciation to Mr. Kamel El-Wazir and the Ministry of Transport for their quick response to participate and coordinate with the Cairo governorate to speed up the development work of Ezbet El-Walda and Arab tunnels in Helwan to serve the residents of the area.
The governor added that the establishment of the tunnel comes within the framework of improving the services provided to citizens and to ease traffic congestion in the area and link between Ezbet El-Walda area, Helwan area, Al-Corniche area, and the university road to end the suffering of the residents.
Furthermore, the governor said that several service projects were implemented across Cairo in coordination with state authorities and civil society organizations, as well as implementing several national projects in the Helwan district, such as upgrading roads.
At the end of his speech, the governor expressed his appreciation to the House of Representatives and the Senate members for their active participation, productive roles, and continuous follow-up with the executive bodies of the Cairo governorate to solve any problems facing the residents of the Helwan district.
The governor pointed out that the new tunnel is 150 m2 long, 8 m2 wide, and 5,10 m2 high and will help reduce traffic congestion in the area.
