Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal inspected a model of one of the bike-sharing stations, which will be installed and dispatched in Downtown Cairo as part of the Cairo Bike Project. The Cairo Bike Project aims to promote cycling as an alternative mode of non-motorized transportation in the capital.
Abdel Aal pointed out that Cairo will be a pioneer in implementing the bike-sharing system, as it is the first of its kind in Egypt. He added that Cairo Bike was selected after discussions between the Cairo governorate, civil society, cyclist groups, and environmentalists.
