Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal inspected several polling stations across the capital ahead of the presidential elections scheduled from 10-12 December to follow up on the preparations made by the Cairo governorate’s executive bodies for upcoming elections.
During his tour, the governor said that the governorate has prepared 444 polling stations to receive the 8236761 voters in Cairo.
Abdel Aal added that the limited executive bodies’ role of Cairo governorate is restricted to providing necessary facilities in coordination with concerned state authorities for voters to cast their ballots.
Moreover, Abdel Aal pointed out that the governorate and its executive bodies are doing their part in preparing and equipping polling stations and providing logistic support following the regulations set by the National Election Authority.
Abdel Aal also said that the governorate has set up a central operations room headed by the secretary-general to coordinate and communicate with all relevant authorities responsible for preparing polling stations. He added that there will be coordination between the governorate’s central operations room and the operations rooms of concerned authorities in the Egyptian Cabinet and the Ministry of Local Development.
Abdel Aal called on citizens to participate in the upcoming presidential elections and freely exercise their political rights to show the world a positive and honorable image of Egyptian society.
Abdel Aal asserted that all safety measures have been taken to secure ballot boxes and ensure a smooth election.
Abdel Aal also stressed the necessity to provide wheelchairs to voters with disabilities and the elderly, as well as water dispensers and deploying ambulances to deal with any emergency.
Additionally, Abdel Aal urged Cairo’s Public Transportation Authority to coordinate with Cairo traffic to deploy sufficient buses to facilitate voters’ arrival at polling stations.
Abdel Aal also ordered district chiefs to conduct a campaign to clean all streets surrounding polling stations to ease the balloting process.
