Cairo prepares to move the royal mummies

Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal directed on Tuesday all the relevant authorities and districts to promptly finish all the preparations for the transfer of the royal mummies from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir square to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) in Fustat, Misr El-Qadima area.
 

“The transfer should be well-organized and elegant to befit the ancient Egyptian civilization, especially after the renovation of Tahrir square”, the governor said.

 

Moreover, the governor instructed his deputies to put the finishing touches to Tahrir square renovation project in coordination with the relevant executive authorities to be prepared for this global event.

 

He also ordered the director of Road and Transport Directorate to finish all the necessary preparations of the route that will be used for transferring the royal mummies, including painting the fences, raising the efficiency of the roads, and upgrading street lamps.

 

On the other hand, the governor urged the head of Cairo’s Cleaning Authority and districts’ chiefs to finish the renovations at Tahrir Square, including painting the facades of the surrounding buildings and shops with a unified color and removing all the illegal billboards.
