Egypt's Defence Minister Mohammad Zaki
met with Senegal's Armed Forces Minister Sidiki Kaba on Sunday and discussed
boosting military cooperation between the two countries, according to an
Egyptian statement.
According to the statement by the Egyptian military, the ministers discussed the latest developments in Africa and the efforts exerted by Egypt to bolster security and stability on the continent.
Zaki praised Egypt’s deeply rooted ties with Senegal, saying the Egyptian armed forces are keen on cementing cooperation and partnership with their Senegalese counterparts in several fields.
Kaba said that his country is
interested in strengthening cooperation with Egypt, hailing the prominent role
that Cairo played during its chairmanship of the African Union in 2019 in
countering terrorism and supporting security and stability efforts on the
continent.
The meeting was attended by the chief
of staff of the Egyptian armed forces, Mohamed Farid, and Senegalese chief of
defence staff Birame Diop.
