Governor Khaled Abdel Aal said that El-Andalus Park is the first park registered
as a heritage site in Egypt. It is also in the memory of many generations who enjoyed
their picnics at the park. El-Andalus
Park is on an area of 9000 m2. The Governor added that the park was neglected for a long time. So, the Governorate had to put a plan to restore
its former glory. The Governor pointed out that there were several development projects,
but it did not complete because of poor funding.
Further, The Governor added that they got some old photos of the Park from the movies in which it appeared to restore its previous look with a bright illumination to give it an exquisite look.
El-Andalus Park is located in Cairo and has a distinctive location on the bank of the Nile River. El-Andalus Park was built by Mohammad Bey Zulfaqar in 1953, and it consists of two parts. The southern part is known as Hadiqat El-Ferdaous Al-Arabia “Arab Paradise Park” designed in the style of the Arab Andalusian parks in the city of Spain. As for the northern part, it is called the Pharaonic Park, which was added to the Coptic and Islamic monuments list.
