Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal participated in the meeting of the executive committee of the United Cities and Local Governments of Africa Organization held on Wednesday June 24th, 2020 via video conference.
During the meeting, the governor assured that Cairo, as one of the continent's largest cities, is placing all its experience at the service of the African cities and provinces. He also said that it was an honor to host the North Africa region headquarter pledging that he will provide it with all its administrative, technical, and logistic needs to enable it and its staff to perform their work effectively.
Furthermore, the governor hailed the success of the conference hosted by the Ministry of Local Development in June 2019 entitled "African Cities: Engines for Sustainable Development" held under the patronage of President El-Sisi, hoping that the executive council meeting would achieve desired outcomes.
The governor also emphasized that headquarter agreement and the official inauguration, which was scheduled last March but was postponed due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus will be signed after the resumption of air traffic between the organization's members.
On the other hand, the meetings will discuss several issues, including the modernization of the general secretariat's activities of the first quarter of 2020 as well as reviewing the compatibility between the organization's vision and the 2030 strategy.
